Robin Williams…America’s Sweetheart

Ahhhh what a true tragedy. I usually don’t post anything on celebrities that died etc…but…this time is very different. Robin Williams was to me, America’s Sweetheart. He was loved by everyone. Respected by everyone. Enjoyed by everyone.

His ability to step into whatever role he was cast was inspiring. He was the same man who was a hilarious Mrs. Doubtfire and the Genie from Aladdin. I remember him in ‘Mork & Mindy’ (nanu nanu) and loved him in Jumanji, Flubber, Birdcage – seriously, I can’t think of one movie I saw him in that I didn’t enjoy…he was a man of many talents and could seamlessly step into any role as if he was already that person…as if he was born for it.

Robin Williams fought depression…he had inner demons that he hid from the world. Many of us can relate. I have seen comments stating that he was ‘selfish’ or a ‘coward’ – to those people, I say ‘nanu nanu’ – committing suicide is a permanent action to a problem that seems hopeless…daunting…you leave behind people that love you and want to help but perhaps don’t know how – you are in pain and want to rid yourself of that pain – perhaps in a desperate act you don’t think of the people you love that will miss you and the pain caused by your death…you just want release from a pain that won’t end.

My heart breaks at losing such an awesome person. I can only hope that he has indeed found peace and that his family / friends / fans will remember and treasure the actor, comedian, husband, friend, father that he was.
