Day 28: Night @ the Theatre

So last night hubby and I went to see ‘The King and I’ at the theatre and it was a BLAST!!  I am familiar with the story line having watched the movie with Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr many times and yet, it was so different seeing it LIVE!!  The costumes were so vibrant and the music was still awesome.  My favorite piece is ‘Shall We Dance’   🙂  Although, who doesn’t know ‘Getting to Know You’??  lol

If you don’t know anything about the musical, the short version…it’s about a widow (Anna) who accepts a job as a live-in governess of the King of Siam’s children.  The movie claimed that the King had 106 kids with 5 more on the way.  The musical last night had the King with 77 kids and 3 more on the way (the real King was said to have had 82 children by 39 wives).  Anna threatens to leave when the house she was promised wasn’t ready (the King claimed to not remember that promise…lol).  I’m not going to give up the ending, but, well, yeah, it was kinda sad.

The theatre was packed last night!!  We had awesome seats – we were sitting up at an angle so we could see the orchestra and the stage clearly.  Next year they are supposed to have ‘Romeo and Juliet’ so guess what we will be seeing  🙂  Last night was definitely relaxing and FUN!!!  Who doesn’t enjoy an opportunity to dress up in fancy clothes and jewelry…lol
