Day 4!! Friends from the Past…

Day 4!!  Woot Woot!!  I have to admit, once I hit submit yesterday on my blog, I started a list and came up with several ideas for posts.  Just not sure which one to go with first!!  Has that ever happened to you?  Of course, I have also started something and ended up going in a totally different direction!!  That is kinda what is going on today.  I had every intention of writing about something this morning and then I got a surprise phone call from a friend from COLLEGE!!  and well, let’s just say, this isn’t the post I had intended on doing!!  But, I can always do it tomorrow  🙂

So, back in college, there were three of us that did everything together, me, Sha and Lee.  Sha and I used to ditch English classes whenever we could and we’d always meet up with Lee in the lounge and have cheeseburgers and chili fries and watch ‘The Sally Jessy Raphael Show ‘ (remember that show?!?!) until we had to go to work – which incidentally, Sha and I worked together!!   Or we’d escape the campus after exams and head to the mall where we spent the afternoons.  Well, life happened and the three of us went separate ways.  Yeah, that stunk, but, that’s what happens.  So, about four years ago, Sha found me – not sure how she did, but, she did and we reconnected.  Of course, back then she lived in a different state, now she resides back in Va  🙂  We text just about every day but unfortunately our schedules are still hectic and kids are involved so day trips are kinda iffy right now.  But hey, that’s why Facebook, texting and emailing are so great right?  lol

Over the weekend, I got a message on Facebook from an old friend from college.  At first I thought it was a joke or spam because the Facebook page had lots of political comments on it.  I wasn’t real thrilled at getting hit with politics so I was hesitant at responding.  Finally, figuring I could block or delete this person, I accepted his friendship and guess what?!?!  Yep, it was Lee!!   We caught up on our lives for the first day or so and then started right in with the ‘do you remember…’.  It was GREAT!!  We have spent a lot of time texting and then the phone call from this morning.  We met for lunch – it was like walking into the lounge at college all over again.  There was no awkwardness or weirdness.  I have met friends from the past (AND present!!) and it was weird.  This time, the past sixteen years seemed to melt away and we were 18/19 all over again.  We were laughing over the stupid things we had done and groaning over the time I got my Ford Escort stuck in the mud…lol…

I know you can’t go back, but, sometimes, just having a mutual friend to do the ‘remember when…’ chats can be an awesome way to relieve stress and to make a dreary day seem brighter.  I was a totally different person twenty years ago and it was good to visit that person again and remember the funny (and maybe a little stupid) things I did.  It definitely put a smile on my face  🙂
